After more than 25 years of travel basketball, the Mid Jersey Mavs will be officially retiring as an AAU program.
Originally established in 2011 and created by Linda and Rich Weise, the Mavs were built on a passion for developing young athletes and helping shape some of Mercer County’s most talented basketball players — both girls and boys. In 2017, the program was taken over by local CVC coaches Kristin Voorhees Jacobs and Sharon Conover, who continued the tradition of skill development, competition, and mentorship that the Mavs had become known for.
In recent years, Coach Jacobs stepped back from day-to-day coaching responsibilities but remained instrumental in promoting and supporting the Mavs behind the scenes, while Coach Conover led operations and programming. As Coach Conover prepares to retire this summer, she and Coach Jacobs have made the joint decision to bring the Mid Jersey Mavs’ remarkable 25-year run to a close.
All those involved with the organization would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the players, families, and coaches who have been part of the Mavs over the years. It has been an honor to watch so many athletes grow not only as basketball players but also as young women. We wish all of you continued success in your future endeavors—on and off the court.
